Evaluation Part 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My magazine uses the convention of having an eye catching title positioned at the top of the front cover.  I have used a puff to entice the audience into reading my magazine.  The cover also has cover lines, a price, issue date, issue number and a barcode like traditional magazines.  The cover establishes a house style that is then continued throughout the magazine.

Moving on to the contents page I have arranged the features next to their corresponding page number and attached some to relevant images.  The colours estabilshed by the cover as the house style have been continued so there is a clear link between the pages.  I have also introduced a website to subscribe by, the date of the publication, its name and the page number to the bottom corners of the page.

The double page spread continues some of the established colour scheme and the writing on the bottom corners of the pages, allowing the magazine to slot together naturally.  I have used a large Photoshop edited image of the person that my article is about and placed it on the opposite page, a layout popular with other music magazines.  The article itself is laid out in columns with the first letter enlarged and coloured to make it look like a professional article.
