Magazine Treatment

Target Readership: My magazine will be aimed primarily at girls aged 16-25.  It may also appeal to some males who are into Pop.  The readers themselves will therefore be mainly students, but there parents will have quite a high income in the C1-B demographic.  It will be aimed at explorers and aspirers who have brand loyalties that centre around the latest fashion clothing and enjoy going to the more expensive music gigs.  They will frequently purchase music, most likely in the modern download fashion rather than on CD.

Form and Style: The magazine will be A4 and full colour.  The magazine will contain interviews with artists and other professionals in the music industry.  There will be a regular competition in each issue to win gig tickets to see the latest artists.  It will also contain a free artist poster, lyrics for new song releases, band equipment stores (advertising), ideas for great nights out, gig calendars, festivals and music reviews.  There will always be a famous celebrity on the cover and a double page interview with them inside.  The front of the magazine will be designed to look vibrant and modern.  The magazine will be priced at £4.50 to reflect the magazines aim towards a reader with money to spend and to show high quality.  For this price they will get 150 pages of content, which will be advertised on a puff on the cover to show them it is value for money.

Themes and Typical features: It will have all the regular features typical of a music magazine, such as album review and band interviews.  All the articles will be tailored to appeal to the desired audience.  There will be features exclusive to the magazine such as photoshoots with celebrities and signed merchandise to give away.  It will also contain lyrics for new song releases, gig calendars and posters.

Potential Advertisers: There will be advertising from music stores such as HMV, Amazon and Itunes.  There will also be suppliers of band equipment such as guitars, drum kits and microphones.  Also there will be advertising for non-music related items such as movies and clothes because that is the kind of thing the target qudience of teenagers and young adults also spends money on.
Editorial Team: The editorial team will be made up of highly skilled writers, journalists and designers who will be able to produce a project to a high standard.  They will all have a passion for pop music and the music genre as a whole, and will show this enthusiasm in the product.  There will also be people of the desired readership age category who will be in charge of market research and developing new ideas that the readers will love.
